WATCH BILL SARGENT BANDS PERFORMThis page provides videos of Bill
Sargent Bands,
Other bands and entertainment websites feature video and audio clips that are recorded in the studio or under controlled conditions. Some sites use clips from commercial CD recordings. The bands and musicians record, and re-record until they get a "take" they are pleased with. These circumstances allow the groups to "FIX" any errors in their performances via "doctoring" of the audio with studio software. They also "mix" the sound so it sounds absolutely perfect. Unfortunately, they can never duplicate such perfection on the job. Therefore, you have no idea of what their performance at your event will actually be like. It will NOT be as good as their "staged" audio or video clips, for if it was, they wouldn't bother with such in the first place. In fact, their performance may not even be close to what they represented to you via their "demo" clips on a website or what they sent to you in the mail. The following video clips of our bands are all recorded "very live" with no special sound connections or mixing . . . nor any fancy multi-camera techniques or editing. Just a stereo microphone and a single camera, stationary on a tripod. The purpose of this is to give you an accurate, "undoctored" view of our bands "on the job", where it counts. If you like what you see and hear via this method, you're going to absolutely rave about the way we sound in person at your event! In several cases, I've posted the same song in different settings with different bands playing them. This will give you an accurate way of judging the different configurations of bands for your purposes. You'll also note, that in almost all cases, the audience conversations can be quite prevalent. It is is important to note that the band does not overwhelm the audience with volume that is too loud to carry on a conversation. As you can see, everyone seems to have no problem conversing with one another while the band is playing. In the interest of website space, downloading time and wishing to make this available to as many folks as possible, I have kept many of the tunes very brief . . . just enough to give you a good picture of what we do . . . while in other cases, I just couldn't resist putting up more or all of the tune. WHY DO WE DO THIS? Most, not all, but most clients wish to be able to see a band perform before hiring them for their event. Most bands will invite you to see them perform at someone else's wedding or private event. I think that's very tacky. We have ALWAYS held to a policy of never divulging any information about who we're playing for, or where or when regarding private events. I've had people try to talk me into letting them come and see me at someone else's wedding. I had to kindly explain to them that if I did that for their wedding, based on the number of inquiries I get, I would have about 40 uninvited guests (strangers) at their wedding just to view my band as a sales demo. REMEMBER THIS WHEN A BAND INVITES YOU TO SOMEONE ELSE'S PRIVATE EVENT! The vast majority of our engagements are private. Therefore the opportunity to view the band in action is very limited. That's the purpose of this page. Also, time is critical when it comes to booking a band. You could miss getting the band you want by 24 hours. The date we had open on Tuesday, could be booked on Wednesday. You may not have the luxury of waiting until next Saturday to see the band at some event. With this page, you can see us now, today. If you have others involved in the decision making process, you can all come to this page today and make a decision. For entertainment, charity and corporate committees, you can send everyone to this page and expedite your decision making process. THAT'S WHY WE DO THIS, AND WE HOPE YOU FIND IT HELPFUL!
ONE MORE THING . . . The selections of music you'll find below are what these clients chose and what their guests responded to. Some clients wanted more jazz, some wanted a totally swinging evening, some wanted the big band classics, some polkas & waltzes . . . others, something else. Your tastes, and your guests preferences may be different. Rest assured that we will make every effort to custom fit your evening to your liking. As you can see, with the top professionals we use and the highest quality bands we produce, almost anything is possible. Most clients come to us because of the very classy music, atmosphere and evening we provide. While we have added and are continually introducing more classic rock and pop into our library, the vast majority of people request that there NOT be any Rock or Contemporary Top 40 during the evening. They wish their evening to be different than everyone else's . . . you know - the DJ, the yak-yak, and the tacky party songs that everyone else uses. However, if you have also wish to have played material that we do not have in our library, such as contemporary top 40 material, like a DJ would play . . . no problem! Just burn those songs to CDs and we'll play them through our wonderful sound system during our breaks! You can have the best of both worlds and not have to pay for a DJ (or have to put up with a dominating personality all night!)
